A Long-Standing Collaboration
Donna's Dress Shop is a funky little boutique in the West 39th Street shopping area of Kansas City. The charming and colorful shop features both new and vintage clothing. Donna Foulk the proprietor and name sake of the shop is the very embodiment of her quirky boutique often sporting vintage clothing and hairstyles.
Midtown Signs has enjoyed collaborating with Donna since 2007. The first project was a painted store front to go along with Donna's vintage theme. The storefront incorporated Donna's now trade mark hanger logo.
Through the years, Midtown and Donna have enjoyed collaborating on projecting signs, murals and even a gingham pattern vehicle wrap to match Donna's favorite vintage dress.
Our Latest Project
Our latest project was the most ambitious of all. Create a giant 16' hanger to hold a radially projecting blade sign. In August 2020, our designer Sean Moore, started knocking out retro inspired designs incorporating Donna's signature hanger and branding colors. There was a lot of collaboration with Donna and we finally landed on a design.
Next up was the task of getting the sign through permitting. This process involved the Municipal Art Commission, utility companies and two different city permits. This step in the process took approximately three months.
Finally, the fabrication of the sign was green-lighted and our ace fabricator Ian Moore and Chief Sign Engineer Jeremy Cadero went to work heading up production.
